Enhancing 9-1-1 Emergency Call Handling with AI and Signal Processing: A Resilient Solution for Managing High-Demand Scenarios
Description
This research project focuses on enhancing 9-1-1 emergency call services by developing a system that utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) and signal processing technologies. The current 9-1-1 infrastructure is robust under normal conditions, but it faces significant risks during large-scale emergencies, such as a major earthquake, where the volume of calls could overwhelm human operators. To address this challenge, the proposed system aims to autonomously handle emergency calls when operators are unavailable, ensuring that no call goes unanswered.
The system will be capable of analyzing the nature of the emergency, prioritizing calls by assessing caller stress levels, grouping related incidents, and extracting other critical information. It will then route calls to the appropriate emergency service. The ultimate goal is to ensure seamless and efficient emergency response, even during periods of high demand, thereby enhancing public safety in extreme situations.
